Overview

There are various lower chambers of your heart, the ventricles may not be functioning properly resulting in impairment of the supply of blood to the body. To remedy this dysfunction, a ventricular assist device, also known as a mechanical support device, is implanted in the chest. This device can be implanted for the left ventricular, right ventricular or for both the ventricles. In most cases, it is placed in the left ventricle, hence commonly referred to as Left ventricular assist devices (LVAD)
